How to Play Pick 3

Playing Pick 3 is a bit different to many other lotteries, as you first have to choose a wager type. It is up to you how you want to try and match the winning numbers, and there are several options to choose from. You can then pick your numbers, decide how many draws to enter, and even consider how much you want to spend per play.

You can spend $0.50 or $1 per play on PA Pick 3. The payouts you can win are proportional to your play amount, so you need to pay a dollar to be able to win the top prize.

Select the Wild Ball option if you want to give yourself a better chance of winning. This doubles the cost of a play.

Make sure to purchase your tickets before 1:05 p.m. (for the Day draw) or by 6:57 p.m. (for the Evening draw). The total cost depends on your play amount, the number of draws entered, and how many panels you fill in.

The Day drawing takes place at 1:35 p.m., with the Evening drawing at 6:59 p.m. A three-digit number between 000 and 999 is randomly selected as the winning combination, followed by a Wild Ball between 0 and 9. Go to the Wild Ball section to learn more about this optional feature works.

After a draw has taken place, check the results to find out if you are a winner. Take a look at the Prize Chart to find out how much you can win for each play type.

Here is more about the play types that are available:

For Box, Straight/Box and Super Straight plays, the combination of numbers you choose will be referred to as a 3-Way or a 6-Way. If you pick three unique numbers, such as 123, there are six ways in which they can be ordered. By contrast, if you pick two like numbers and one that is different, such as 001, these can only be arranged three ways (001, 010, 100).

If you play a Straight, you are predicting a specific order so the combination doesn’t matter. If you want to choose a ‘triple’, where every number is the same, such as 777, you have to play it as a Straight because it can only appear one way.
